Valerie Hannah

Valerie Hannah is a board director and retired Managing Director of Brookfield Asset Management, a global alternative asset manager with more than $1 trillion in assets under management across infrastructure, renewable power and transition, private equity, real estate, and credit. During 15 years in Brookfield’s renewable power and transition group, she held executive roles including CEO, CFO, COO, Head of Distributed Energy, and Senior Vice President of Business Acquisitions.

Valerie’s leadership on a number of high-impact initiatives delivered measurable growth and strategic innovation: she helped grow the group’s assets under management tenfold and establish it as a clean-energy supermajor. She led the turnaround of a public company after its parent filed for Chapter 11, tripling market capitalization ahead of privatization. She also championed new investment classes and geographic expansion, accelerated investments in emerging technologies, oversaw the launch and rapid scaling of a distributed energy platform, and pioneered first-of-its-kind financing solutions. Earlier she was a global finance executive at a publicly traded Canadian industrial manufacturer and began her career at PwC. Valerie is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds degrees from McGill University and Concordia University.
