Solar Preconstruction Manager

You are a detailed-oriented, proactive, highly organized self-starter with a background in estimating or construction project management looking to further a career in the sustainable infrastructure field from the owner’s perspective.

What you will be doing at Generate Capital as the Solar Preconstruction Manager:
• Review all existing project/portfolio documentation to understand the scope/details/challenges of portfolios
• Provide budgetary pricing estimates to support Generate Investment Team acquisition activities
• Manage all stakeholders during the preconstruction process, including developers, investment teams, legal, construction, and engineering teams
• Maintain a national network of relationships with key equipment suppliers and EPC partners
• Manage contracting and execution of all preconstruction engineering work (geotechnical/pull testing/civil work, etc.)
• Manage all aspects of the formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process
• Write/review scopes of work (SOW) being sent to EPC contractors during the RFP process
• Assist in negotiations of EPC agreements as needed
• Coordinate diligence/pre-bid site visits with potential EPC RFP respondents as necessary
• Support department improvements and development of internal processes related to the project delivery/construction department
• Lead all RFP efforts which include compiling all necessary documents for contractors to successfully estimate/bid projects
• Manage preconstruction activities from development through project kick-off
• Schedule and execute required project kick-off meetings
• Handover of project due diligence to construction project management team which includes risk assessment and project constructability (cost/schedule/risk/interconnection)

Candidate qualifications & core characteristics:
• 5+ years’ experience in utility-scale or distributed generation (DG) solar construction
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through
• Strong written and oral communicator capable of “code-switching” to meet the needs of a given situation
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite. Prior exposure to Salesforce or other CRM is helpful.
• A 4-year degree or equivalent work experience and certifications
• Relevant training and certifications such as prior/current trade licensure, OSHA10/30, PMP are preferred
• Ability to manage multiple objectives simultaneously and prioritize appropriately
• Strong familiarity with construction and electrical codes
• Strong analytical skills
• Expertise in contract negotiations
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawing sets
• Unimpeachable integrity and glowing references
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, intuition, and listening as well as strong writing, editing, and basic design skills.
• High level of self-awareness and humility, with excitement about confronting uncomfortable situations or new challenges
